VIC: Protecting Human Rights, 3 October 2008
The Centre for Comparative Constitutional Studies will be hosting a National Conference on Australian Bills of Rights on Friday 3 October 2008 at the Melbourne Law School, 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. This one day event provides an important opportunity to examine the Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities and the Australian Capital Territory's Human Rights Act and other charters of rights.

NSW: City of Sydney Peace Prize Lecture 2008 by Patrick Dodson, 5 November 2008
One of the most important Aboriginal leaders in Australia addresses the promise of ‘Sorry Day’ and his hopes for the future. Patrick Dodson, winner of the 2008 Sydney Peace Prize will discuss issues of reconciliation for Indigenous people, human rights and the prospects for peace with justice. He will be supported by Aboriginal artists including singer-songwriter Archie Roach and an indigenous children’s choir.
